Skugg-stickning Shadow knitting

Hos Monica (igen) hittade jag skugg-stickad handduk. Tänkte att det kanske jag kan klara av. Så jag letade på färger som passar för min toalett (blått golv och orange vägg*), så jag randade med blått+orange. Jag upplever inte skuggeffekten, men det kanske inte funkar med alla färgkombinationer. I vilket fall fick jag en matchad städ-duk till toaletten :-) *Jag har inte valt färgerna! Monica (again)had done a towel in shadow knitting. This made me think I might manage to do the same. I looked up colours to go with the ones in my toilet room (blue floor+orange wall*) so my shadow knitting was done in those colours. I cannot see any shadow effect, but maybe I used colours that was wrong. Any way I got a matched cloth for cleaning my toilet room :-) *I did not choose the colours!

Mörka gult Hiding yellow

Det fanns mer av det otäcka gula garnet. Testade med ränder i en mössa. Jag tyckte det blev bra, så en mössa till Rumänien blev det. I had more of the nasty yellow shade left. Tested with stripes for a hat and liked the result. Another hat for Rumania.

Låång luva Tall hat

Efter vantarna gick jag loss på det rosa garnet ensamt. Det blev en lång luva som åker till Rumänien. After the mittens I used the pink yarn alone. This time it ended up as a very tall hat. It shall go to Rumania.

Tumvante Mitten Monica

Tack Monica! Du uppmuntade mig att blanda ilsket gult garn med blekt rosa (två av mina hat-färger) och helt plötsligt gick det bra att sticka, det blev tumvantarna på bilden. Monica, thank you! You encouraged me to use bright yellow yarn with pale pink, two of the colours I hate.... All of a sudden I could knit and the outcome was the mittens on the pix.

Google has managed to scan this book so all pages+plates are included. The downloadable pdf is 18.6M. The book is very interesting and covers all for a family living in 1840. Sewing cloths for newborn babies - servants- old persons (text tell you the dim and plates show how), sewing house-linen, upholstery,chemical receipts, wash and ironing, how to fold a silk dress..., knitting and straw platting. All this in less than 400 pages!
